Best Bars for Dancing in Nashville: Top Spots to Move Your Feet
Here’s my top experiences. If you’re wondering where to dance in Nashville or looking for clubs with more variety, I’ve also been in search of those places—and about 4 months ago, I started building a helpful list. Last weekend, I went back to a few spots like Nashville Underground, FGL House, Redneck Riviera, Flamingo Cocktail Club, and Rosemary & Beauty Queen—and I don’t mind it at all. Each club has its own setup, music style, and energy, and I feel like all places offer something different that keeps the night moving. This is my detailed experience, and below are the bar recommendations I personally suggest to help you find your perfect dancing spot.
Redneck Riviera
📍 Downtown Nashville
Redneck Riviera, located at 208 Broadway, sits in the heart of Downtown Nashville, a historic neighborhood that serves as the city’s cultural core and hub for country music history, engaging nightlife, and culinary delights. Just steps from the Ryman Auditorium and the Country Music Hall of Fame, this small bar is a treasure trove for music lovers who want that authentic Broadway energy. I’ve been twice, and both times I had a great time—whether on the first floor or the rooftop bar, which stayed lively even when it rained hard on our second night. There’s live music playing on both bars, backed by a great band, wonderful bartenders, and truly great customer service. The buy 1 get 1 free deal on your first purchase for all Veterans proves they’re really doing it right. With its mix of honky-tonk bars charm and an awesome atmosphere, Redneck Riviera is one of the top dance-friendly bars in Nashville I’d proudly recommend to friends.
Play Dance Bar
📍 1519 Church St, Downtown Nashville Play Dance Bar at 1519 Church St has been my go-to spot for years—and for good reason. Located in the Mid-town area of downtown Nashville, it’s been the Best Place to Dance in the city every year since 2004, and truly lives up to the hype with Nashville’s BEST dance floor, amazing DJs, and Drag Shows that are nothing short of entertaining. Whether it’s the early 9 pm show or the late ones at 11 pm and 1 am on Friday and Saturday, the Female Impersonation Shows are packed with talent, especially if you bring cash and tip the girls—it really does make for a better show. I love that you can park once and enjoy the whole evening—EAT, DRINK & DANCE the night away—with nearby favorites like Tribe, Music Video Bar, and Suzy Wong’s House of Yum. The entire experience is fabulous in every way, with a clean environment, no roughness, and a great dance area surrounded by plenty of bars. The staff, performers, and security are truly top notch, and whether it’s a busy night like Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday, I always feel safe, welcomed, and ready to enjoy dancing without drama. This is the only place worth dancing in Nashville, and I’ll go back many times without hesitation.
Moxy Rooftop
📍 110 3rd Ave S, Nashville Downtown Moxy Rooftop, located on the 5th floor of the Moxy Hotel Downtown, is a hidden gem just far enough away from the Broadway street craziness to feel like a nice escape from the hustle and bustle. I’ve been there many times, and whether I was just looking to hang out, grab a great meal, or enjoy some live music, this spot always delivered. The Classic American Cuisine Menu features standout dishes like the chicken cacciatore and salmon, all served with generous portions and attentive service. Their hard-to-find whiskeys, local craft beers, and hard seltzers make it a great bar option too. The vibe is upscale yet casual, and the courteous staff—especially Mary Beth, our lovely, helpful waitress full of information about the city—made the experience feel personal. It’s clean, has a great view, and while seatings can be limited and slow service has happened on busy nights, the front desk can assist with room keys for rooftop access if you’re staying in the hotel. I’ve enjoyed it, despite the occasional disappointment with Christmas Grinch pop-ups or when the prices felt outrageous, but overall it’s still a nice spot for an amazing dinner and a really good time. Check it out if you’re looking for one of the best places to dance near Broadway Nashville—or just to unwind in a more relaxed setting.
Stompin’ Grounds
📍 306 Broadway, Downtown Nashville Stompin’ Grounds is the go-to dance bar for country line dancing in Downtown Nashville, where couples like Tessa and Dustin have turned their love of dance into a welcoming space for parties, weddings, and full-on country entertainment. I’ve been here numerous times, and each class feels like a fun experience—even if you’ve never done anything like this before. With instructors like Mallory, who’s both wonderful and a patient teacher, learning the steps is easy to follow and genuinely enjoyable. The hour goes fast, with a well-paced structure: the teaching portion comes first, followed by a recording portion, where students rotate between front and back rows to get the most out of watching the instructor’s feet and actions. It’s a great addition to any weekend in Nashville and something I always recommend. Whether you come for the country music, the vibe of bars, dance floors, and honky-tonk culture, or just want to have fun, this place delivers every time. No skill needed—just show up and dance. It’s truly a must-do in Nashville’s nightlife scene.
